I had Round 6 today and seem to be handling it fine. Had acupuncture ahead of treatment, and it really helped. Usually I’d be dead asleep by now, but thankfully still have some energy. I don’t have definitive news about my tumors from the CT scan, but the preliminary report only shows one tumor instead of three, so that is good. We’re still waiting to hear about the size of the remaining tumor.
Now, for the surprises. I’ve been complaining about shortness of breath for some time now, but it has gotten a lot worse in the last week or two. The CT scan revealed that I have pneumonia and fluid around my heart. Guess that explains a lot! I’ve started antibiotics for the pneumonia and have an EKG tomorrow to learn more about the fluid around my heart.
Would appreciate prayers that the EKG sheds good light on the situation so we know how best to proceed. Also, David and I have talked it over, and are seriously considering looking at some type of alternative treatment in 2017. I feel like the chemo is beginning to take a toll on my body, and David sees it better than anyone.
Although it may sound grim and I am definitely ready to bid farewell to 2016, I promise that things are not all bad. I actually feel fairly good and was able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas with my family.
I’ll post another update when I have more news. Until then, thanks for your prayers and support!
