While I’m aware the loss of my hair is not the most important thing I’m dealing with right now, I’m a sucker for a good headline and I like this one. Since I’m talking about hair, I will go ahead and say that mine is not long for this world. It’s coming out by the handful every time I wash and dry it. I’m visiting my hairstylist Nancy tomorrow so that she can cut it short and give some style to my wig.
Now on to brighter news. I’ve gone through round 2 of chemo and am still doing fine. The main problem is fatigue, so I’m planning to add an afternoon nap back to my daily routine. Today I had to cut my workout short and took a two-hour nap after I got home from the doctor. Going forward, I’ll count on David and my mom to rein me back in if I do too much.
Even better news – the blood work after my first round of chemo showed that it’s already working! My cancer markers dropped from 14 to 8! The doctor said he was very surprised by such a quick and good response. Needless to say, I’m incredibly thankful to know that it’s working!
The plan for now is to do chemo through the end of the year and then do a scan to see where we stand. In the meantime, the blood work will give us updates as well. The only possible hitch in the plan is my platelet counts, which are already dropping. If they get too low, we’ll have to stop the chemo. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen so that we can just do this and be done with it, but I trust God fully with whatever happens.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers, kind words and support. My burden is lighter because you are helping to carry the load.
Balding but blessed,
