A quick update to say that I had my first radiation treatment today and everything went very well. I was a little concerned going into the procedure because I had a practice round yesterday that made my shoulder cramp and gave me a migraine. I believe the migraine was caused by dramatic changes in the lights throughout the 40-minute session. They would be very bright one minute, dark the next, and so forth. On the good advice of my husband, “Dr. Dave,” I draped a dark cloth over my eyes for today’s procedure. No migraine! Also, it only took about 30 minutes and my shoulder didn’t bother me nearly as much.
I left the appointment feeling very good and well prepared for the next four treatments. For the record, I have the second treatment on Friday (followed by a chemo infusion) and the final three next week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Ready for radiation,
